Many forms, sizes, heights, and bloom times are available. Some upfacing, downfacing
and outfacing; planted in the same bed as daffodils and tulips, they extend the spring blooming
season into summer; terrific garden plants as well as cut flowers; they thrive in full sun as well as in partial shade and in well-drained soil; Asiatics tend to bloom early summer and Orientals bloom later in the summer; excellent perennial bargain! (16/+cm bulbs unless otherwise noted); 2-3 per sq. ft.; 2'-3'; zones 3-10. (Hint: When using lilies as cut flowers, snip off the anthers at the end of the stamens as they may stain tablecloths and clothing.) |
