saundersiae - large 20+ cm bulbs produce creamy florets with greenish/black centers; one of the most striking plants in our summer garden; 3'-4'; 4 per sq. ft.; zones 7-10.
Dense clusters of starry flowers appear on top of 12"-24" spikes, making it a valuable cut flower. It's also a valuable garden plant because its blossoms are so long lasting in the mid-late summer garden. Native to Europe, Asia and Africa, they are also smashing in patio planters with other summer flowering bulbs and annuals.
