Well known as a graceful cut flower especially in eloquent, large flower arrangements, what may not be known about this plant is its adaptability. We have grown them successfully in a flower border along with other bulbs and perennials, but it also grows happily at water’s edge or even potted up and submerged – pot and all – in the shallow end of our pond. The spotted leafed cultivars prefer a drier site and often perform well as container subjects that can be kept dry and from freezing when dormant; native to South Africa, its graceful, vase like flowers bloom from mid through late summer; critter resistant; 1-3 per sq. ft.; 12″-18″; and whz 7-10 as long as the drainage is good; 16/18 cm bulbs, unless otherwise noted.
