This South African native is particularly useful for providing a tall accent above summer bedding plants in the flower border from mid summer through fall. Its 20+ greenish waxy blossoms resemble graceful hanging bells on 14″-24″ stems looking a bit like a large, old fashioned, loosely flowered hyacinth. These long-lasting flowers are adorned with a rosette of long, fountain-like leaves. For earlier bloom, pot up in a cool greenhouse where it is a showstopper as a centerpiece in a large container garden; best in full sun; 3-4 per sq. ft.
