The Iris has been a very popular flower bulb for generations—it’s one of our particular favorites! The Dwarf Iris is the earliest blooming form of Iris, and that alone makes them very special. They are adorable when blooming alone but make great companions with other types of flowers, sometimes creating a color echo. The yellow eye in the falls of Iris reticulata ‘Harmony’ truly harmonizes a color echo with Crocus chrysanthus ‘Goldilocks.’
The white eye in the falls of Iris reticulata ‘Pauline’ with the interior of Crocus chrysanthus ‘Ladykiller’ as well as the outer color of ‘Ladykiller’ almost makes a double color echo! This is a mutually beneficial planting for early spring.

Dwarf Irises naturally bloom early, so they are easy to force. They’re perfect for growing in containers for indoor enjoyment or early décor for your deck or patio.

We offer a few different pre-cooled varieties that are available for purchase as a website exclusive or as a phone order. When they arrive at your house either in early December or early January, whichever you prefer, they will already feel like they have been through their “winter,” so they’re ready for you to pot them up. We’ll include instructions in the shipment package.
The Dutch Iris is a taller version of an Iris flower that grows from a bulb. They typically bloom around Mother’s Day. Dutch Irises are available in many colors and are part of a group of flowers that we have nicknamed “Bridge Flowers”—blooming between the ‘Spring Splash’ and the ‘Summer Show.’ They are terrific in the garden, playing well with others and making terrific cut flowers for lovely bouquets.

On the left, Dutch Iris ‘Blue Magic’ helps Dichelostemma ida maia become much more visible to passersby. On the right, Dutch Iris ‘Alaska’ blends beautifully with Allium aflatunense ‘Purple Sensation,’ making a very nice combo.

We can’t give enough accolades to Dutch Iris! They come in many different colors, are so versatile, and blend in with so many other types of flowers in the garden.
